| Bio: | I do not know if what Miss Badu says above is correct as all Swahili-to-English dictionaries I have ever found state that mother in Swahili is actually mama. Nevertheless, the title of this journal was inspired by Miss Badu's song as it reflected my sentiments in creating a journal to share my journey of motherhood. - Elle is 30-something - Elle is mother to three daughters: Tater Tot 1 (TT1), 20, Tater Tot 2 (TT2), 14, and Tater Tot 3 (TT3), 11. - Elle is married to her best friend and beloved soul mate Angel. - Elle is a Goddess loving Pagan, Priestess and Sister of Avalon. - Elle is an American who resides in the UK but is a citizen of Nutopia. - Elle is a family lawyer. - Elle is good for you.   From 2002 - 2007 I was a non-custodial mother, with my children living in the US while I lived in the UK. I was a non-custodial mother by choice. I was not forced or coerced to live without my children. I simply made the choice I felt was in their best interests. I often found, however, that I was a minority even amongst non-custodial mothers as nearly all of the non-custodial mothers I encountered were women who, for whatever reason, had their children taken from them. Therefore, the original purpose of this journal was to chronicle (albeit loosely) my journey as a mother given I was taking "a path less traveled". In late 2007, however, changes in circumstances saw custody of my children returning to me and TT2 and TT3 now reside with me in the UK. TT1 is of course an adult now and continues to reside in the US. This journal will continue to follow my journey although now it is a journey of integration and a family coming into a new way of being. This journal has never been about trashing my ex-husband or detailing lengthy and emotional legal battles or unfair judges. I however reserve the right to change my mind about the unfair judges part. For legal reasons and for the protection of my children's privacy, no "real" names are used. Although I acknowledge that life isn't always sunshine and roses, I keep the general outlook of this journal positive. Therefore I do not provide a lot of details about any family problems and if you're looking for a juicy soap opera to follow, you will not find it here. I have been keeping an online journal in some form since 2000. I originally started out on Live Journal and used various ID's and journaling platforms throughout the years. I began Ye Yo in late 2005 using my own domain and Word Press. I subsequently left Live Journal completely in 2006. After nearly a year of being away, I came back to Live Journal in 2007 bringing my Ye Yo blog with me. I no longer use any other blogging platform save for Live Journal and this is my only blog/online journal. All my archives can be found here (save for the very first entries in 2005 which were unfortunately lost). Enjoy. I sometimes have a strange and even morbid sense of humour. I also occasionally imbibe in the use of colourful language. If either of these things bother you, feel free to Go fuck yourself. Thankssomuch.
